OEM Radiator Sourcing: A 10-Point Buyer Checklist

Illustration for OEM Radiator Sourcing: A 10-Point Buyer Checklist

OEM radiator sourcing works best when commercial targets and technical expectations are made explicit before samples or quotations are compared. The following checklist creates a common basis for discussion.

1. Define the destination market

Share applicable standards, common system temperatures, preferred connections, labelling language and expected documentation.

2. Separate core and optional sizes

Identify the small group of fast-moving sizes first. Optional extensions can be evaluated after the core range is commercially sound.

3. Confirm output data

Ask which test standard and temperature condition support the published watts or BTU/h values.

4. Agree materials and construction

Record tube or panel dimensions, connection details, brackets, plugs, vents and included accessories.

5. Set finish expectations

Define standard colour, gloss level, approved alternatives and the method used for sample approval.

6. Review pressure testing

Understand production test pressure, sampling records and how non-conforming units are controlled.

7. Design the packaging

Packaging must suit the product weight, sales channel, pallet plan and expected handling environment.

8. Clarify branding

List every private-label element: carton, rating label, instruction sheet, valve pack and barcode.

9. Plan inspection timing

Agree checkpoints early enough to correct issues without disrupting the planned loading date.

10. Define change control

Dimensions, components and packing should not change without documented buyer approval. A short written specification prevents assumptions from becoming costly production differences.
